African Centre for Cities at the University of Cape Town

Nobukhosi Ngwenya is an urban planner and development practitioner whose researchi nterests focus on community-led planning, development and transformation of human
settlements. As part of the CzASE project, Dr Ngwenya examines how infrastructure facilitates or hinders various material flows and the impacts therein on habitability on each
site. Central to this is an examination of the (often conflicting) rationalities underpinning infrastructure delivery and land claims within areas that are the locus of mega infrastructure projects. Dr Ngwenya also leads the infrastructure hub, which collates and synthesises secondary data in order to draw key insights that can enhance coordinated delivery of resilient, sustainable and inclusive infrastructure in contexts that are characterised by rapid urbanisation and great uncertainty.
