Liis Vares is a choreographer based in Tallinn, extending into the digital space and playing in the midfield of performing and visual arts. She is a certified DanceAbility teacher and a guest lecturer at the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy and the Estonian Academy of Arts, focusing on improvisation and inclusive practices in dance and performance art. She navigates the boundaries between the physical and the mental, the personal and the social. By asking how it feels and what it means to be in a body, she digs deeper into transmedial spheres of art and embodiment. Liis has gained recognition and received awards both for her innovative choreographic approach and for addressing politically and socially urgent yet sensitive topics in her practice.
